Robert Lee Knapp passed away peacefully on June 25, 2016, in Sedan, Kansas. He was 90 years old.
He was born on November 15, 1925 to Samuel and Viola (Goddard) Knapp, in Fort Scott, Kansas. He served as a Marine, March 1945 to August 1946, serving on the USS Shangri-La. He married Marjory Ruth Arihood, in Wapello, Iowa, March 3, 1947. She preceded him in death in March 11, 2008.
He was employed at the Denniston & Partridge Lumberyard for many years. He built and sold several homes, then turned to farming. He loved his animals and working in the fields, which he continued until 2008.
He was a faithful member of the Grandview Community Bible Church for many years.
His family includes two daughters, Gerrie and Rev. Dr. Lynn Evans, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Christine and Fred (Doc) Westendorff of Sedan, Kansas, four grandsons, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ralph Otto Knapp, brother Roscoe Earl Knapp, sister Margaret Knapp, as well as his wife, Marjory.
A viewing with the family to meet friends will be held at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello, Iowa, on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 6-8 PM and the funeral service will be held Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Rev. Darryl Erickson will officiate. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery.
