James died at his home in South Nyack. He had been the president of the accounting firm Park, Potter & Co. He'd belonged to the varsity crew team of Columbia University, where he had graduated in 1922. Survivors included his mother, his wife, his 2 brothers and his daughter, Adelma Lucy.
