Oscar Edward King Sr., 81, of Greencastle, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016.

Mr. King was born Nov. 8, 1934 to the late Oscar Albert and Ruby Fern (Hill) King.

He served his country in the United States Army and continued to be a member of the Indiana National Guard.

He was an electrician and retired from DePauw University. Following his retirement from DePauw he worked an additional 10 years for the City of Greencastle.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by a large and loving family, including his beloved wife, Marcia King; children Oscar Edward (Jill) King Jr. and Diana Lynn (Rickey) Norton; brother Harvey (Laconda) King; sisters Audean (Robert) Rumley, Pat (Jack) Bond, Sharon Gregory and Sue (John) Head; brothers-in-law Emerson Phillips and Walter Begley; sister-in-law Peggy King; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry, Gary, Donald and Frank King; sisters Mary Phillips and Shirley Begley, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 in Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, where friends and family will gather from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral.

Following the funeral he will be laid to rest with military honors in Forest Hill Cemetery.
