Shameka was a sixth grader at Earhart Middle School . She was a playful and highspirited child who idolized her Aunt LaToya. On December 27,1998 she tragically lost to her family in a house fire that took her and five other siblings. We truly miss and are still heartbroken over the loss of this sweet angel. Shameka rest in sweet peace little one.
I pray, oh Lord, please keep me near. Balance my feet and wipe my tear. As you call my angels, one by one five loving daughters and one special son. Hold them close as I have in my heart. Assure them that our spirits will never part. I am a mere mother, your strength Lord, do provide, and embrace my innocent babes so beautiful, all dressed in white.
This beautiful child leave to cherish her memory, a strong loving mother, Fremeka O'Steen, one sister, Shacoya O'Steen, one brother Dezman O'Steen, both of Detroit, Michigan; their grandmother, Hannah O'Steen, who nutured her with great love and support; their grandfather Ben O'Steen of Detroit, Michigan, who loved her dearly; three aunts Shanda, Makeba and LaToya O'Steen all of Detroit, Michigan. One great grand-father, Robert Lee Earthly of Colfax, Louisiana. A very special cousin Donyell Williams, two special friends, Cecily Wilson and Mark L. Ervin; a host of loving aunts, uncles cousins, relatives and friends.
