As a young girl and teenager, she worked in tobacco, waitressed and cooked for some old local restaurants. She helped her parents with their gas station and store. She dedicated her life to the Lord as a teenager. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Later with her husband she became a member of Sabbath Home Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She loved to sing. She married Norman McKinney on June 21, 1964 and had 2 wonderful children. She was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She started up Brownie Troop #51 and was active in Girl Scouts for many years. She worked at Shallotte Middle School and West Brunswick High School in the cafeteria. She later did some part time substitute teaching for Brunswick County Public Schools. She loved traveling and camping with her family. She loved to talk, she never met a stranger. She later joined the Eastern Star and was an active member for years. She fought a long, hard battle with Non-Alcoholic Cirrhosis of the Liver and remained upbeat until the very end. She completed her bucket list just days before her passing. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. She touched many lives with her loving and giving nature and witty sense of humor. She loved to laugh. She will be missed by many.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, her loving husband, Norman Willis McKinney, and nephews Jamie Hewett and Dale Hewett and several Aunts and Uncles.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita McKinney of the home, son, Michael McKinney of the home. Grandsons, Julian McKinney and Bryson McKinney, granddaughter, Kayla McKinney, great grandson Kaden Alexander McKinney. Brothers Larry Dale Hewett and wife, Shirlean, James Calvin Hewett and wife Martha, Robert Earl Hewett and wife Linda, all of Supply. Nephews Mark Hewett and wife Michelle, Larry Edison Hewett and wife Julie, Ricky Hewett, Robert Darrell Hewett, and niece Wendy Hewett. Numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins and Aunts and Uncles. Special Life long friend/sister Frankie Woods, Gail Hewett, Toy Johnson and Geraldine Elliott. Special Extended Family Sandy Hardee, husband Bradly and boys, Lanie Eichler, husband Ryan and kids, Vickie McKeithan Brown, Sarah Holmes, Tina Godfry, Ashley Nicole Edwards, Beth Henson, Ginger Glendenning, Todd Harden and kids, Eddie Yates, Austen Chestnutt and Brandon Waddell.

Funeral services will be One O'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the twenty sixth day of June, 2016 in the chapel of White Funeral & Cremation Service, Bolivia/Supply Chapel with The Reverend Landis Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in the Sabbath Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
