Faye H McKinney, 72, of Holden Beach, North Carolina crossed over to the arms of Jesus on the twenty third of June, 2016 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, surrounded by her family. She was born on December, twenty nine,1943 to the late Chancie Calvin and Carrie O'Neil Hewett.
As a young girl and teenager, she worked in tobacco, waitressed and cooked for some old local restaurants. She helped her parents with their gas station and store. She dedicated her life to the Lord as a teenager. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Later with her husband she became a member of Sabbath Home Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She loved to sing. She married Norman McKinney on June 21, 1964 and had 2 wonderful children. She was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She started up Brownie Troop #51 and was active in Girl Scouts for many years. She worked at Shallotte Middle School and West Brunswick High School in the cafeteria. She later did some part time substitute teaching for Brunswick County Public Schools. She loved traveling and camping with her family. She loved to talk, she never met a stranger. She later joined the Eastern Star and was an active member for years. She fought a long, hard battle with Non-Alcoholic Cirrhosis of the Liver and remained upbeat until the very end. She completed her bucket list just days before her passing. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. She touched many lives with her loving and giving nature and witty sense of humor. She loved to laugh. She will be missed by many.
