In 1936, he joined the Second Cavalry, one of the last divisions of the horse cavalry used by the Army, and was stationed at Fort Riley, KS. When WWII began, he entered the 1st Infantry Division of the Army and was sent to France shortly after D-Day.
Eventually settling in Jacksonville, he and Noma raised their family and became devout members of the Church of Christ. He was employed by the VA and then by the Pulaski County School District. Marshall loved and served his family and friends.
