CLEVELAND— Virginia Anne (Freeman) Rice Glover, 84, was born April 25, 1932 to Russell Freeman, Sr. and Pattie (Van Trease) Freeman in Ceres, California and passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016, in Cleveland, Texas.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husbands, Irvin Rice and Jack Glover; father, Russell Freeman, Sr. and mother, Pattie (Van Trease) Freeman Boyer; brother, Russell Freeman, Jr.; sister, Edith “Pat” (Freeman) Thompson; daughter, Trudie (Rice) Sears Shiel and special friends Bob Hasting and Dean Sharp.

She is survived by two sisters, Joyce Giese and Robina Peterson; daughters, Terri (Rice) Harvey and husband, Wayne, Pattie (Glover) Hanks and husband, Nathan, Sheri Glover; son, Michael Glover; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, extended “adopted” family members and many long -time friends.

She lived most of her life in Texas City and raised her family there. Her whole life centered around her family and friends and she enjoyed dancing, riding her motorcycle, camping, water skiing, annual vacation trips to California to visit family and friends, listening to the Gaithers gospel music, family gatherings of all kinds and trips with her sister and brother-in-law, Bo, around the United States and into Canada. Her door was always open to her neighbors and her kid’s many friends throughout the years.

She never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest. In her lifetime she was called by many names for various reasons: Virginia, Ginny, Wren, Virgie, Johney, Aunt Ginny, Mommy/Momma/Mom, “Her”, “Captain”, and most recently “GG” by her grandkids and many extended family and friends. She spent the last 3 years of her life living with her granddaughter Shonee and her family in Cleveland.

The celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at Hayes Funeral Home, 10402 Highway 6, Hitchcock, with Reverend Richard rather officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016, from 5:00 – 8:00. The funeral service will be the following day at 1:00. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Harvey, Nathan Hanks, Robert Harvey, Dennis Harvey, Michael Glover II, Chris Owens, Bake Zimmerman and Trevor Brackin. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Sears, John Copeland and Trever Hanks.
