Author, Motion Picture Screenwriter, Journalist. Best known for his compelling book "Dispatches" (1977), which recounted his coverage of the Vietnam War, while serving as a journalist with Esquire Magazine. Additionally, he will be remembered for his narration work for Francis Ford Coppola's film "Apocalypse Now" (1979) and for his contributions to the screenplay for Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket" (1987). He studied Journalist at Syracuse University, prior to launching his career as a writer with the publication Holiday. In addition to "Apocalypse Now", he served as the narrator for Coppola's picture "The Rainmaker" (1997).
