ELKHART, IN — Brandon Keith Jackson departed this life Thursday, June 23, 2016. He was 24 years old.

Born July 20, 1991, to Sonya Jackson and Leroy Stewart Jr., Brandon had been a lifelong Elkhart resident.

He was an outgoing and very personable young man who liked talking and cracking jokes.

Brandon is survived by his son, Brashaun Keith Jackson and the mother of his son, Rikki Taylor; stepmother Elizabeth “Dizzy” Stewart; one stepsister, Raven Taylor; three sisters, Ciara Jackson, Paris Jackson and Corriana Emerson; and brothers Arrion Stewart and Kailand Baker.

A funeral service for Brandon was at noon Friday, July 1, 2016 at Agape M.B. Church, 248 W. Wolf Ave., visitation started at 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

Burial followed in Prairie Street Cemetery.

Cobb Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Brandon Jackson, 24, was shot to death in the 200 block of West Garfield Avenue during a botched robbery attempt.

Tyrell Beavers pleaded guilty to one count of murder in October. Shyla Southern pleaded guilty to an accessory to armed robbery charge. Danisha Sarll pleaded guilty to assisting an armed robbery. Joemongee L.L. White was arrested Dec. 14 on a charge of murder while committing a robbery.

A 14-year-old boy charged in juvenile court in connection to this case is scheduled for a hearing on Jan. 20, 2017 to determine whether he should be transferred to adult court.
