Mr. Prentice had returned to his home two days before from Albany Veterans Hospital where he had been a patient two months. He was born Feb. 16, 1894, in Newark Valley, Tioga County, and had lived in Gloversville 37 years.
Mr. Prentice was a graduate of Newark Valley High School and attended Syracuse University. Before coming to Gloversville, Mr. Prentice was a supervisor at the Endicott Johnson shoe firm at Endicott. He had been employed as a route man for Robison and Smith Corp. laundry and dry cleaners firm in Gloversville.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors are his wife, the former Miss Lela Guinup, three sons, Roger Prentice of Sacramento, Calf., (living relatives omitted); one brother, Merle Prentice of Newark Valley; one sister, Mrs Harriet Hultslander of Endwell, Broome County; 13 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
