Darlene Marie (Fidler) Phillips, age 61, of Mattoon passed away at 3:39 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services for family and friends will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Humboldt Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home.
Darlene was born on October 12, 1954 in Tuscola, IL the daughter of James Edward and Dorothy Irene (Tynan) Fidler. She married Albert Phillips Jr. on September 16, 1983.
Survivors include her loving husband of 32 years, Albert Phillips Jr. of Mattoon, IL; son, Paul (Theresa) Sisk of Arcola, IL; grandchildren, Dallas James Sisk and Kacie Lynn Sisk both of Arcola, IL; parents, James and Dorothy Fidler of Arcola, IL; sisters, Brenda Fidler Fletcher of Humboldt, IL, Janice (Rick) Shonkwiler of Arcola, IL; niece, Sarah (Jeff) Thomas of Arcola, IL; nephew, Lucas Shonkwiler and girlfriend Emma Comerford of Arcola, IL; and a very special cousin Alice Reece; two great nieces and one great nephew. Darlene was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Glen Fletcher of Phoenix, AZ.
Darlene worked at R. R. Donnelley’s and Sons for 33 years. She enjoyed fishing, was a Cubs fan and sports fanatic. Darlene loved going to the ballpark to see her nieces, nephew and grandchildren play ball. Darlene was full of life and loved to sing and dance. She will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her.
Memorial donations in her honor are suggested to the Coles County Animal Shelter or the Freedom Life Ministries in Mattoon, IL.
