William H. Stechmesser, age 89, of 3009 Adams St., Two Rivers, died Sunday afternoon Nov. 4, 2001 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001 at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers. The Rev. Robert Johannes will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.
William was born in the town of Two Rivers on April 27, 1912, son of the late Charles and Emma Schwake Stechmesser. He graduated from Mishicot High School in 1928. On Aug. 30, 1947, he married Mable Pfefferkorn at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mishicot. The couple recently celebrated 54 years of marriage. William and Mable operated a dairy farm in the town of Two Rivers for many years; he also worked as a machine operator at Miro Corporation for many years, until his retirement in 1977. William was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Mishicot; he enjoyed the outdoors, traveling in his retired years, and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Mable, one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Judy Stechmesser, Two Rivers; one daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Gary Sauer, Kellnersville; two grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Stechmesser, and Vicki Stechmesser all of Two Rivers; one great-grandson, Griffin Stechmesser. He is further survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Eunice and Jack Knocke, Titusville, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Helen Stechmesser, Kiel; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Earl (Bette) Pfefferkorn, Milwaukee, Pearl (Roger) Bruhn, town of Two Rivers, and Orrin (Evelyn) Pfefferkorn, McHenry, Ill.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Adeline and Karl Kuether; one; one brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Mary Stechmesser; and two nephews, Kenneth Kuether and James Bruhn.
Friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers after 5 p.m. on Wednesday until the time of service at 8 p.m.
