Services For John B. Talley
Funeral services were held at the Murphy Mortuary in Lancaster on Monday, Sept. 25th for John B. Talley.
Mr. Tally was born March 14, 1894 in High Falls, N.C., and passed away in a Lancaster hospital on Sept. 22. He was 78. He married the former Marie Mattin on May 2, 1931, in Honolulu, Hawaii, after being discharged from the U.S. Army. He had lived in Mojave briefly before moving to Lancaster about 11 months ago.
He was retired from the U.S. Naval Weapons Center in Ridgecrest, where he had been employed as a locomotive engineer from 1933 to 1951.
He is survived by the widow, Marie Talley, at the ~home, 1301 E. Ave. I Lancaster; one son John B. Talley, Jr., Ridgecrest; three daughters, Mrs. Cornelia Houser & ~ Mrs. Jewell Essman, both of Mojave and Mrs. Ettie Gamer, Cal City;. one brother, Earl, No. Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Owen, No Carolina, and Mrs. Mary Love, So. Carolina, and six grandchildren.
Dr. Dan Myers, First Baptist Church of Lancaster, officiated at the 2:00 p.m. services. Interment was in Joshua Memorial Park, Lancaster.
