Member of 17th Vt. Reg. CO. C.

Mortally wounded at the Battle of the Crater Petersburg, VA. This was also called the Siege of Petersburg.

Son of Samuel & Polly Glines

Brother of Samuel L. Glines -
Member of 4 Reg. Kansas Vols.

It is a shame this gravestone marker is falling into disrepair. Eventually it will be completely gone and disappear. It's a good thing the photo has been taken, even at this state of deterioration, to preserve what elements are still readable.

(Cenotaph?) Was he buried where he was mortally wounded, or was the body brought to Vermont and buried?
