William T. Pottinger, was a native of Kentucky, having been born in Nelson county. He came to Amarillo, Texas, in 1887, locating a few miles east of Amarillo. Here he became a stock farmer and a very successful man. He was active in political affairs and played an important part in the general development of Potter County. He served as county commissioner at one time and was a member of the Democratic party. He was the means of bringing a number of Kentuckians to the county and always used every means to further the prosperity and progress of the section in which he was so deeply interested. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. His great grandfather settled Nelson Co., KY. William T. married Mary Price, who was born in 1838 in Logan county, Kentucky. Her forefathers were also among Kentucky's early settlers, coming into the state from Virginia. Mrs. Pottinger died on the ranch east of Amarillo,Texas. They had five children, four sons and one daughter.
