Born June 18, 1948, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Noah Lee and Lillian Fultz Bowling. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jackie, Danny, Arthur, and Elmer Ray Bowling, and two sisters, Dorothy Marie Bowling Williams and Betty Adkins.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lily Mae Ison Bowling, whom he married August 17, 1974; two sons, James Bowling and wife Angelina and Archie Bowling and wife Jonda, all of Morehead; and five grandchildren, Brianna, Kandice, Brooklynn, Katelen, and Karley Bowling.
He is also survived by five brothers, Bill Bowling of Olive Hill, Jimmy Bowling, Curtis Bowling, Kenny Bowling, and Johnny 'Bull' Bowling, all of Morehead; three sisters, Joyce Ballew of Burnsville, North Carolina, Mary Murphy of Belleville, Michigan, and Kay Keeton of Manitou Beach, Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Jerry was a farmer and formerly worked at General Motors in Lansing, Michigan. He was of the Apostolic faith. Jerry enjoyed farming, woodworking, sitting on the porch, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Arnold Ison officiating. Burial will follow in the Ison Family Cemetery.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
