PIONEER WOMAN DIES
MRS. EMILEE HEINATZ

LEANDER, Williamson Co., Texas, March 9-Mrs. Emilie Heinatz, 92, Western Williamson County's oldest pioneer died here recently. Born in Prenzlau, Germany, Sept. 3, 1842, she came with her family to Texas in 1854, the ship landing at Indianola after a stormy voyage of eleven weeks. She married to J. H. Heinatz in 1863. He was a civic leader in Bagdad which later became Leander, and together they worked to build the community. Mr. Heinatz was postmaster in addition to conducting his mercantile business and he and his wife were largely responsible for maintaining the Methodist Church in Leander.

Mr. Heinatz died in 1891. His wife lost her eyesight before her death. She had lived more that seventy-one years in one home.

Surviving are the following children. Miss Dore Heinatz and W. F. Heinatz, Leander; Ms. E. J. Krohn, Austin; S. O. Heinatz, Houston; Mervin Heinatz, Henderson; MrsEdward Berry and Miss Ruth Heinatz, Lufkin; and Mis Louise Heinatz, Dilley; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday at Leander with burial in the Leander cemetery under the direction of the Thurlow Weed Funeral Home. The Rev. Buck and the Rev. Harold officiated.

Emilie was the second child of seven and second born daughter of Carl Friedrich and Emilie Leontine Kantzow Krohn.

She was married on 10 December 1863 to John Frederick Heinatz in Bagdad, Williamson, Texas. This union produced nine children, six sons and three daughters.

John Frederick and Emilie Marie were very busy in their community, owning and operating a general merchandise store for many years. All of their children worked in the store at one time or another, learning life skills that stood them very well throughout their lives.
