AUSTIN -- Elvera "Ione" Nihart, age 83, of Austin, Minn., passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 8, 2006, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin, Minn.

Ione was born on July 6, 1923, in Blooming Prairie, Minn., to Olaf and Lula (Bagg) Olstad. She graduated from the Blooming Prairie High School, and after graduation, she worked at Hormel Foods. She met a fellow Hormel Foods co-worker on a blind date, and on Nov. 19, 1944, the couple married at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, Minn. They lived in Blooming Prairie early in their marriage and moved to Austin in 1946.
Ione enjoyed bowling, traveling to the casinos and visiting with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, VFW Auxiliary and Crane Chapel.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, of Austin, Minn.; a daughter, Barbara (Wayne Thiesfeld) Flom, of Glencoe, Minn.; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Olstad, of Mankato, Minn.; sister, Margaret Williamson, of Austin, Minn.; sister-in-law, Edna Olstad, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Kermit and Michael L.; brothers: Kermit, Odean and Lawrence; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Hank Jenson; brother-in-law, Kenneth Williamson; and sister-in-law, Jackie Olstad.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Goossen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday evening with an Eagles Auxiliary service of remembrance at 6 p.m. Friday and one hour before the service at the Worlein Funeral Home. Interment will be at Grand Memorial Gardens in Austin.
Memorials preferred to donor's choice.
