Pat Compton was born on June 20, 1947, in Locust Grove, OK to Alto John & Betty (Batt) Compton. He departed this life on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the age of 68 years, 10 months, & 14 days.

Pat attended Ballou & Locust Grove schools. He was a lifetime Locust Grove resident. Pat served his country proudly in the U.S. Army National Guard for over 6 years. He was a carpenter, working in construction for many years as a sheet rock and acoustical ceiling installer. On December 30, 1971, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Pat & Mavis June Harlow were united in marriage.

Pat was a member of the Smith Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Rose, OK. He had enjoyed fishing. Pat loved to watch rodeos on television as well as listening to gospel music. He loved his family dearly & treasured time spent with them, his church family and his friends.

Pat is survived by: his wife: Mavis Compton of the home; 1 son: Jack Compton & wife Betty of Locust Grove, OK; 1 step-son: Gary Hughes & wife Linda of Tulsa, OK; 5 grandchildren: Mark Hughes, Derrick Compton, Eric Hughes, Jaxson Compton & Gunter Compton; 3 great granddaughters; 1 brother: Bob Compton of Locust Grove, OK; Numerous other relatives & a host of friends; Pat was preceded in death by: his parents & 1 brother: Art Compton.


Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 9, 2016, at the Smith Chapel Free Will Baptist Church near Rose, Oklahoma. Reverend Doug Parker and Reverend Mark Coday officiated. Interment followed at the Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove, Oklahoma.
