Ann Shirley Adams, our dear, sweet mother and grandmother, returned peacefully into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on June 16, 2016. She was a great example to all, with her kindness, optimism, and desire to serve her family, even to the end.

She was born at home in Montana on August 18, 1922 to Joseph and Mary Walikonis.

As a child, she was smitten, love at first sight, with Vern Adams and later as a young woman was married to him on December 26, 1942. Until they started their family, she was a beloved teacher in a one-room country school house. Always ambitious, she later owned and operated "Ann's Craft" in her hometown of Plentywood, Montana. She was also a great "4-H Club" leader, sharing her many talents with young people.

She and Dad converted to the LDS Church and their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Temple in 1972. They led the tiny branch (they called it a twig) in Plentywood until they moved to Salt Lake City to be near their daughters.

She served in the Primary, Relief Society, and for many years as the building librarian. Her family especially loved her Lithuanian cottage cheese dumplings, devouring as many as possible. She was so proud of her Lithuanian heritage.

She will be missed by her daughters, Shirley (Bob) Stephens and Elaine (Ron) Allred; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, all of Salt Lake City. Also survived by her beloved brother, Albert (Jeanne) Walikonis, of Montana. She is preceded in death by her husband, D. Vern Adams; parents, brother, Joe (Mabel) Walikonis; and sister, Millie (Ross) McCloud.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road (1700 West), where viewings will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to the services on Saturday from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
