Ramona "Mona" Peterson, 66, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Davenport Lutheran Home. Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 7th at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-7:00 P.M. Monday, November 6th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family. Mona was born May 8, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa to Manuel and Mabel (Hahn) Franco. She was a 1958 graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy, Davenport, and attended Scott Community College. She married Ronald Peterson and they were later divorced. Mona retired from Midland Press after many years of service. In earlier years she co-owned and operated Brown's Tap and owned Golden Eagle, Davenport, until 1979.
She sponsored many baseball picnic and pool leagues and served as president of the West End Women's pool league.
A devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed crafts, spending time with her grandchildren, dancing with her dad, partying with all of her friends and family and motorcycle rides. She had a zest for life and lived her life to the fullest, never regretting any of her choices. Mona always found the good in everyone and accepted everyone as they were. Survivors include sons, Terry (Dixie) Peterson of Davenport, Todd Peterson of Boise, Idaho, Troy Peterson and Gary (Amy) Bailey, all of Davenport; grandchildren, Tiff, Terry, Jr., and Toni Peterson, Ryan and Dustin Gall, and Nick Phelps, all of Davenport, Sean Peterson of Vancouver, Washington, Jeffrey Peterson of Bend, Oregon, and Richard Bailey of Davenport; three great-grandchildren; her parents of Davenport; sisters, Marie Sammon, Angela Franco, and Juanita Tague, all of Davenport, Rosalee (Richard) Young of Phoenix, Arizona, Katherine (Ronald) Rivera of Rock Island, Illinois, and Mary (Felix) Vallejo of Moline, Illinois; and brother, Manuel (Dana) Franco, Jr. of Davenport. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Risa Peterson, and a grandson, Eric Todd Peterson.
