Ruby Lambert Bratten, age 84, of Edwardsville, died on Tuesday, May 11,
2004, at Nursing Rehab Center in Edwardsville.
She was born on May 31, 1919, in Floyd, Iowa, the daughter of the late
Clarence and Theda Underwood Lambert.
She married Walter Bratten on Oct. 30, 1945, at Breese Point Chapel at
Naval Air Station in Northfolk, Va. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters: Patricia Stanley and Bonny Ladd and
husband, Donald, all of Edwardsville; a son: Michael Bratten of
Florissant, Mo.; a brother: Warren Lambert and wife, Ruth of Receda, Calif.; a
sister: Dorothy Burnett of Charles City, Iowa; grandchildren: Andy,
Angie, Nick, Melissa, Tom, Don, Ellora and Richard; and one
great-grandchild: Alexander.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers:
Robert and Albert Lambert.
Mrs. Bratten was employed for 25 years at SIUE in the accounting
department, retiring in 1981. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving
during World War II. Her memberships included St. John's United Methodist
Church in Edwardsville, the Edwardsville American Legion Post 199,
Order of the Eastern Star No. 667, was Bethel Guardia of Jobes Daughters
No. 72, a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, St. John's
UMC Ladies, a member of the Brummitt Circle and the Edwardsville Lions
Club.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 14, at Saksa
Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, at the
funeral home with Rev. William Lewis and Rev. Charles Sward officiating.
Interment will be at Liberty Prairie Cemetery in Edwardsville.
Memorials are suggested to St. Judes Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or the
Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis.
