FOUND DEAD IN BED - HEART ATTACK KILLS MRS. OLIVE DEVANEY - RESIDENT OF EKIN COMMUNITY WAS BORN IN THIS COMMUNITY - Mrs. Olive Devaney, of the Ekin community, and the widow of Henry Devaney, was found dead Sunday morning about seven o'clock at her home, her death having taken place sometime after twelve o'clock, Saturday night. Death was due to an attack of heart trouble. Mrs. Devaney had two sons in the west and no funeral arrangements will be made until word is received from them. Mrs. Devaney, whose husband, the late Henry Devaney, died twenty-eight years ago, lived alone on her farm near Ekin. Henry Carmack making his home with her and tends the farm. Mrs. Devaney, who was 75 years old, had been in her usual health upon retiring Saturday night. About midnight Mr. Carmack heard her up and moving about in her room. When she did not get up as usual Sunday morning, and did not answer his call at her door he made an investigation about seven o'clock and found the body, death having ensued some hours before. Mrs. Devaney, whose maiden name was Olive Small, was the daughter of Arch and Mary Ann Small, pioneers of Tipton county, and was born in Tipton county 75 years ago. Her marriage to Henry Devaney took place more than 50 years ago. To their union ten children were born, six of them surviving the mother. William Devaney, of San Francisco, Calif., Cary Devaney of Eugene, Oregon, Mrs. Bertha Kassubaum of Broad Ripple, Mrs. Maude Lower of Lebanon, Delt Devaney of Sheridan, and Fred Devaney near Ekin. Besides her own large family, Mrs. Devaney also gave homes to, and mothered a number of other children, proving her goodness of heart and her true christian principles. She is also survived by eight grandchildren. She was a member of the Christian church at East Union and in earlier years one of the active members of that church.
