Chuck was the son of Ruth Henrietta Kampstad and Edward Joseph Wirtz. He had two children, Edward Joseph and Cynthia Marie, from his first marriage. His second marriage was on November 24, 1990 in Reno, Nevada, to Maralyn Jean Kline Newman. Though they had no children together, he was a wonderful father to her two sons, Glenn and Brian Newman. Chuck was general manager and part owner of Connecting Devices, Incorporated, of Long Beach, California.
