Mr. Acker, of Collegeville, worked for about eight years at the Blue Bell Pharmacy.
He had also taught high school science for the Levittown School District in Bucks County for over 30 years, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Acker was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Augustus Lutheran Church in Trappe.
He was an avid tennis player, a nationally ranked table tennis player, a pianist in a jazz band, and enjoyed bridge and golf.
Mr. Acker was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Muhlenberg College, and Temple University.
He was born in Lansford, Carbon County.
Surviving are his wife, Maria G. (Mancia); three daughters, Maria D. Mancia of Norristown, and Marilyn Pineta and Margarita Acker, both of Collegeville; and a brother, Rev. Martin L. Acker of Pottstown.
The funeral will be noon tomorrow at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 W. Main St., Trappe. The Rev. Herbert H. Michel, pastor of Augustus Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Augustus Lutheran Church Cemetery.
