NORFOLK - Memorial services for John E. "Jack" Daniell, 88, Norfolk, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church with inurnment at New Lutheran Cemetery. Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge. He died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at the Norfolk Veterans Home. The son of Alvine and Lily (McFarland) Daniell was born Oct. 2, 1918, at Stanton. He was baptized at the Congregational Church in Stanton and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. He graduated from Stanton High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Feb. 6, 1941, until Aug. 13, 1945. He married Margaret "Tootie" Machmuller on Aug. 4, 1945, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. He farmed with his father near Stanton and farmed with his father-in-law in Norfolk. He then owned Jax Cafe in Norfolk for 28 years. His wife died in 1995. He married Hazel Bergstrom Munn on June 22, 1997, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Mr. Daniell was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk, a lifetime member of American Legion Post 16 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Winter-Munson Post 1644. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Daniell of Norfolk; three children, Jay and wife Judy Daniell of Norfolk, Jackie and husband John Van Auker of Gering, Jill and husband Mike Mueller of Norfolk; six grandchildren, Megan Daniell and Molly Daniell of Norfolk, Scott and wife Debbie Van Auker of Beaverton, Ore., Cheri and husband Kirk Lund of Portland, Ore., Michelle and husband Tom Warzywak of Germany, Peggy and husband Brad Olson of Canton,S.D.; four great- grandchildren; four stepchildren, Pat and husband Joe Rotherman of Norfolk, Mike and wife Carmen Munn of Scottsbluff, Monica and husband Steve Liles of Memphis, Tenn., Mary and husband Rod Brush of Colby, Kan.; nine stepgrandchildren; one sister, Emily Wolverton of Laverne, Calif.; a brother, Robert and Mary Ella Daniell of Laverne, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Margaret; his brothers, Richard and Marvin; and sisters, Myrtle Greives and Ruth Johnson.
