She was born June 8, 1943 in Pana, IL, the daughter of the late Virgil & Ila Marie Ishmael Brown. AS homemaker, she also helped her husband in their businesses McClain TV, Margaret's Figure and Fitness Salon, car washes, Town Pump Bowl. She also had worked at the Kroger Store in Nokomis as a meat clerk for 12 years. Liked to travel, enjoyed country music, skating, bowling and dancing. She loved her family, children grandchildren and great grandchildren and her special friends Cheryl Jostes and Doris Smith.
Margaret Ellen Brown and Emory "John" McClain were united in marriage on August 8, 1960 in Henderson, Kentucky.
She is survived by her husband John McClain, Nokomis, IL; sons Daniel Eugene McClain (Debi), St. Louis, MO and Scott Emory McClain (Lynn), Nokomis, IL; 6 grandchildren: Justin, Jamie, Jessica, Angelique, Jacob and Andrew; 5 great grandchildren: Abigail, Vivian, Tabathia, Carson & Bryson; brothers James Brown, Nokomis, IL and Archie Brown, Pana, IL and sisters Deloris Eddington, Irving, IL, Lola Karbach, Dunedin, FL and Dorothy Kaiser, Pana, IL.
She was also preceded in death by her son Jonathan; brothers Don Brown, Edward Brown; and by her sister Helen Garland.
Funeral Information
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Dolan and Pastor Neil Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery.
