Alvah William "Al" Gaskins, III, 65, of Nashville died Friday June 17, 2016 at South Georgia Medical Center.

He was born February 9, 1951 in Lowndes County to the late Alvah William Gaskins, Jr. and the late Lottie Grey Keefe Gaskins. He was a retired horticulture and landscape instructor at Wiregrass Technical College , farmer and a member of Nashville United Methodist Church. He was also a Certified International Arborist, VICA, 4-H with state leadership award, graduated from Gordon Military College, BS from the University of Georgia and Valdosta State University. He was preceded in death by a son: Alvah William "Bill" Gaskins, IV and a brother: Lewis Gaskins.

He is survived by his wife: Rebecca Beard "DeeDee" Gaskins of Nashville; daughter: Rebecca Gaskins Smart (Todd Stone) of Forsyth; son: Chris (Amelia) Gaskins of Crestview, FL; sister: Susan (Frank) Patton of Lake Hartwell; sister-in-law: Renee Gaskins of Adel; 6 grandchildren: Will, Maggie, Briana, Isabell, Amelia, and Braxton.

Funeral services were Monday June 20, 2016 at 11 AM in Nashville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Addington officiating. Interment was in Westview Cemetery.
Lovein Funeral HOme was in charge of arrangements.
