Dallas J. Anderson, Appleton, age 78, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 20, at Vallhaven Care Center in Neenah. Dallas was born on April 13, 1931, in Neenah, son of the late Orell J. and Dorothy (Leubke) Anderson.

After a short time serving in the U.S. Army, Dallas received his Bachelor of Arts from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN; and later received his Master of Fine Arts Degree from the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts. He was married in Copenhagen to his wife, Kerstin M. "Kiki" Hakansson.

While in Denmark, he worked on restoration and preservation of Denmark's Historical Sites, and taught figure drawing at the Royal Academy. In 1967, Dallas and Kiki moved back to the United States where Dallas joined the faculty of the Department of Art at Brigham Yung University in Provo, Utah, and left there in 1984 as the Director of the University's Sculpture Program.

He continued his career in Orange County, California, producing three large-scale works as Sculptor-in-Residence at Crystal Cathedral until 1988, before returning to the Fox Valley where he worked as a freelance Sculptor. His public commissions for the Fox Cities include "Ring Dance" in City Park, Appleton, and "Playing in the Rain" in Riverside Park, Neenah, and "The Rose Girl" in Memorial Park, Appleton.

His many works are on public display in Norway, Denmark, Utah, California, Hawaii and Wisconsin. His sculptures are also in private collections in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Mexico and the United States. He was lovingly referred to by his colleagues as the "Singing Sculptor."

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Kiki; his daughter: Linda K. Anderson of Appleton; his sons: Orell C. (Franceskay Allebes) Anderson, CA, Lief E. (Nicole Schoonover) Anderson, WA; his grandchildren: Soren, Dane, and Holland Anderson. He is further survived by his sister, Ardys (Frank) Nault, TX; and brother, Elward (Hazel) Anderson of Neenah.

The family wishes to the thank the staffs of Theda Care at Home Hospice, Vallhaven Care Center and the Veteran's Administration, and especially Dallas' closest friends for their constant love and support.
