Joshua attended Matoaka and PikeView High Schools and was a member of the first graduating class in 1995. After high school, Joshua married the love of his life and best friend, Melissa Midkiff. He then joined the U.S. Air Force which took him and his wife to Grand Forks, ND. In his four years in the Air Force, Joshua excelled and earned many accolades and awards, including the prestigious “Airman of the Year” in 2000. After his service in the Air Force, Joshua and Melissa moved back to West Virginia, where he took a job working at the VA Hospital in Beckley. He loved his work there but was forced to early retirement due to illness. He spent his remaining years focusing on his greatest talents and passions, art and music. He was a brilliant artist and left many exquisite paintings and drawings behind for his family to cherish.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Doug Jenkins; and maternal grandparents, Everett and Gracie Dyson.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 18 years, Melissa of Princeton; one brother, Matt of Dublin, VA; his paternal grandmother, Geneva Jenkins of Princeton; mother-in-law, Cathy Midkiff; brother and sister in law, James and Angie Baldwin; a special niece, Riley; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Cornerstone Church, 809 College Street, Narrows, VA with his father officiating.
A military graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 20, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. until service hour at the Cornerstone Church in Narrows, VA. Arrangements by Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton
