Frank was born Jan. 23, 1935, in Palo Alto, IA, to the late Frank W. and Mary Marie (DeWall) Payton. Frank married Marylyn A. Scherer Payton on March 7, 1959.
Frank worked as a printer for 44 years, most recently for Willamette Industries, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Pleasant View Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; five children, Lisa (David E.) Brown of Zionsville, Krista (Karl) Kuhstoss of Bellevue, NE, Cheryl (Michael) Page of Indianapolis, Susan (Scott) Ridgway of Fishers, and John (Christina) Payton of Indianapolis; three sisters, Dorothy Christensen of Belvidere, IA, Darlene Moser of Cylinder, IA and Sharon King of Buckeye, AZ; and nine grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by four brothers, Merland Payton, Ralph Payton, Lester Payton and Laverne Payton and one sister, Viola Vail.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at the Pleasant View Lutheran Church, 801 W. 73rd St., Indianapolis, IN. A funeral service for Frank will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Lutheran Hills Outdoor Ministry.
