Thomas L. James, 86, of 2335 Broadway, Watervliet, a Watervliet postman for 37 years, died yesterday at Mount Loretta Convalescent Home, Amsterdam, after a short illness. He was a printer for many years before going to work for the Post Office Department. He retired 18 years ago. Mr. James lived most of his life in Watervliet. Survivors include his wife, the former Stasia Helen Czarniecka; a son, J. Wilson James of Watervliet; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Johnson of Albany; two stepdaughters, Sister Veronica. CR, of Castleton and Mrs. Irene Bania of Cohoes; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Meyers of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Robert Hayner of Troy; a brother, William James of Albany, and several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.He was predeceased by his first wife, Anna O'Reilly.

Funeral services were held from the Bessmer Funeral Home, 914 24th St., Watervliet.
