Julia Ann Porter was the youngest of 10 children. After the birth of her daughter with Francis M Cullum, story that has been handed down through the years is that she had problems after the birth and she died. Thus the reason their daughter Julia Ann was named after her. Her family moved from Jefferson County, AL in 1868-1869. We know this because on the 1870 census record her oldest sister Nancy was shown living in a house married to a man named James Johnson. They had a 1 year old daughter that was born in Mississippi according to that census. That must have been on the way to Arkansas. The family moved to Vanburen County Arkansas. Later on the county split and became Cleburne county AR.
