Pattie Mae's presence was known in this earth for 88 years. She loved to tell the story of how she was a seventh month child born in Hard Cash, MS during the flood of 1927, and how her mother wrap her in burlap cloth and laid her in a 3 pound lard bucket.
Pattie Mae was born to the late Reverend Walter Anderson and Lula Bell Gibbs-Ramsey on May 28, 1927. She was raised by her mother and stepfather Robert Ramsey Sr.
In 1944 at the age of seventeen Pattie Mae was baptized at Mt. Carmel M. B. Church under the leadership of the late Reverend E. L. Williams. She joined Daybreak M. B. Church where she remained until she transitioned from her earthly vessel on June 23, 2015.
Pattie Mae served faithfully as an usher at her church (and any other church that would allow her) for over 50 years. She was later asked to serve on the motherboard at Daybreak.
Pattie Mae was united in holy matrimony to Willie D. Smith, who preceded her in death in September 1998.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sister, Bernice Hart, Annie Pearl Taylor and Mary Taylor; five brother, Robert, Jr., Willie, Gene, James, and Charlie Ramsey.
Precious memories will be shared by her brother, Jacob (Earnestine) Ramsey of Canton, MS; her sister, Rosemary Lewis of Indianapolis, IN. The more than thirty children who lived with her and knew her as "Mama or "Grandmama", and a host of nieces, nephew, relatives and friends.
