Lucy A Mitchell killed Minnie M McBride with an axe.
Lucy was born about Jan 1865, daughter of Ignatius Franklin Mitchell of Union Hall VA. According to a news paper article, Lucy Mitchell was staying with Joseph and Sallie Fan Crum as was Minnie. (I, J E Brooks, knew Miss McBride's sister, Gracie (McBride) Perdue, as they lived close to our family.) Lucy Mitchell was disarranged according to neighbors. Please see accompning news paper articles.
The Joseph Crum home was back of Old Salem School near Union Hall, VA. According to neighbors, the axe was found under the old Joe Crum home when it was torn down.

Lucy Mitchell death certificate: Died of TB in Virginia State Penitentiary, Richmond City, Henrico County, Virginia 12 July 1913 at 7:10 PM after a stay of 4 years, 4 months, 9 days. A single, white, female.

Lucy was probably buried by the State of Virginia somewhere around Richmond, VA.

Minnie is buried at Old Bethel Church Cemetery, q.v. Find-A-Grave #71842968.
