Newman, Lawrence A. 82, died at Bridgewater Nursing Home on Front Street in Binghamton, NY on September 30, 2014. He is predeceased by his parents Bessie Nichols (Huckabone) and Leland B. Newman; sister Beverly Dibble (Newman); brothers in law Harold Parks and Joseph Head. Lawrence is survived by his long - time companion Pat Miller and family, sons Mark Newman and daughter in law Joan Newman(Putman) and Timothy Newman;sisters Mildred Parks, Betty Head, Terri Simpson; nieces Vicki Weinman (VanSchaick), Katherine Brown (Hill), Sarah Robinson (Simpson), and several great nieces and a nephew and numerous cousins. Lawrence was born in Utica, NY on November 18, 1931. He graduated from West Canada Valley High School in Middleville, NY and worked as a machinist in the Herkimer area and in Broome County much of his life. He loved baseball and football and could spend countless hours talking sports with anyone who would listen. The family would like to thank the staff at Bridgewater Rehabilitation for their loving care. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 12:00 noon at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main St, Johnson City. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00am until the time of services at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc.
