John Alvin "Al" Ruff, age 90 years, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on April 2, 1922. Al was the son of the late Adolph and Esther (Wilson) Ruff. Al was a proud United States Navy veteran of World War II. He married his wife, June Violet Fox Von Bargen, on March 1, 1947. At the time of his passing, they were married for over 65 years.

Al spent nearly twenty years in the design department of the John Van Range Company in Cincinnati. Following that, he launched a career as a food service facilities consultant, a career that spanned over 25 years and took him all over the world.

He is survived by his wife, June, and two of his three children, Jennifer (Robert) Wilhelm, John (Holly) Ruff, and also daughter-in-law Beth (the late Eric) Ruff. Al was grandfather to eight grandchildren: Sarah (Art) Virgin, Laura (Craig) Spencer, Catherine (Ryan Donaldson) Ruff; Eric, Brian, Jenna, and Kadie Ruff; and Michael Wilhelm. Al also had four great-grandchildren: Koa and Cade Spencer, and Gwyneth and Elise Virgin. He is also survived by two brothers, Elmer and Robert Ruff, and predeceased by his sister Marion Sheehan.
