Benjamin Brazeal lived in Georgia until about 1815 or 1816, when he moved his family to what is now southwestern Arkansas. At that time, it was Hempstead County, Missouri Territory, but this region became Arkansas Territory in 1819. According to the will of James McLelland, Jr. filed in Union County Arkansas in 1834, Benjamin Brazeal had these children: Allen Brazeal, Gordon Brazzel, and Ellen Brazeal. Ellen married James McLelland, Jr. in Hempstead County about 1817 or 1818. It appears that Hensley Brazeal was another brother.

It is not known if Benjamin's wife was the widow Mary Brazeal who lived in Claiborne Parish Louisiana in 1830, but this is possible.
