Jon Wayne "Jonny" Barnes, Jr., 62, of Creswell died Thursday, May 12, at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.
Born February 9, 1954 in Chowan County he was the son of Jon Wayne Barnes, Sr. and Mary Woodley Barnes of Creswell who survive. Jonny was a transportation worker with North Carolina Department of Transportation, member of Providence Lodge No. 678 and member of Philippi Church of Christ.
His family includes, besides his parents, his wife, Deborah Davenport Barnes of Creswell; daughters, Heather Barnes Davenport and husband Greg Jr. of Plymouth, Casey Barnes Spear and husband Nelson of Edenton and Tara Jon Edwards and husband Brian of Greenville; brother, Gordon Leon Barnes of Goldsboro; mother-in-law, Peggy S. Jones and husband Morris of Creswell; grandchildren, Jenna Lane Davenport, Sydney Lyle Spear, Sky Madison Edwards, Ellie Catherine Spear, Trent Louis Spear and Brian Russell Edwards, Jr.
A funeral service was held Sunday, May 15 at Philippi Church of Christ, Creswell with Glenn Brickhouse and Eddie Coltrain officiating. Burial followed in Azalea Memorial Gardens...
