Vicki Kay Spencer, 72, of Hico, TX, woke up in the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in Glen Rose, TX. She was born on July 7, 1943 to A.W. and Ferline Calvert in Evansville, Indiana.

Her family lived for a while in Illinois until A.W. was transferred to Texas in 1955. She attended Pampa Schools and married Paul Spencer on December 21, 1971. They made Pampa their home until moving to Glen Rose in 1984 then retired in Hico. She attended Carlton Baptist Church. Vicki was a woman of many, many talents including cooking, gardening, toll art painting, quilting, knitting with crocheting being her favorite. Some of the family’s fondest memories are of her working in the kitchen whipping up marvelous meals for everyone to enjoy. Several years ago, Vicki owned her own craft shop, “Kountry This ‘N’ That” and taught toll art painting classes. She thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship with other crafters in her classes. Recently she had been working, as her health would allow, on finishing quilt tops for her nieces and nephews. She spent many hours researching family genealogy and became a wealth of knowledge on the family ancestors. She was passionate and very involved with Hico’s Hero, a non-profit organization that makes patriotic flag pins that are given to the parents of fallen soldiers.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Billy Gunn; brothers -in-law, Morris Spencer and Henry Spencer.

Her survivors include her husband, Paul Spencer of Hico; son, Steven Guenther and wife Gayla of Amarillo; daughter, Rebekkah Gunn of Nemo, TX; sisters, Janet Snapp and husband Allen of Pampa, Martha Campbell and husband Jimmy of Montgomery, TX; grandchildren, Dereck Guenther, Nikki Guenther, Brooke Gunn, Lindee Guenther; great-granddaughter, Austyn Davis and soon another great-granddaughter, Sophia Sanchez; many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her two four legged children, Rooty and Mine. She will be missed to the moon and back.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church.

Celebration of Life Services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Highland Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Nachtigall officiating, followed by her wish to be cremated and buried with her mother and daddy at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Pampa, Texas.

The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
