A veteran of World War II, Clifford served his country in the US Army from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was employed by General Electric in Erie retiring after 40 years of work. Clifford enjoyed automobiles and watching professional wrestling. He was a veteran of VFW Post #169 in Venango.
Surviving Clifford in addition to his wife, Lillie, whom he married November 11, 1946 are two daughters: Elaine Sue Reynolds and her husband, Raymond of Cambridge Springs and Janet F. Shank and her husband, Blair of Harborcreek; three sons: Gerald C. Patterson of Cambridge Springs, Larry A. Patterson and his wife, Joann of Waterford; and John R. Pursell and his wife, Sherry of Erie; a sister: Edel Ketchel of Erie; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Clifford was preceded in death by a brother: Sheldon (Pat) Patterson and a son: Robby S. Patterson.
