MURPHYSBORO — Marian Herring, 89, passed away at 12:23 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016, in Manor Court of Carbondale.

Marian was born May 11, 1927, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Amiel and Barbara (Brush) Korando.

She had been the co-owner with her husband and bookkeeper for the Murphysboro Tractor and Equipment Company in Murphysboro.

Mrs. Herring was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church for many years and a member of St. Andrew Altar Society. She liked to embroider, and she loved to cook. She was known for her famous fried chicken. It was the best, as well as her potato soup and apple salad.

Marian married Albert Herring on May 3, 1947, in Ava, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1998.

She is survived by six children and their spouses, Barbara and Lester Prahl of Champaign, James and Valerie Herring, Joyce Herring, Larry and Donna Herring, all of Murphysboro, and Pattie Boudet and Cindy Miles, both of Carterville; 10 grandchildren, Kerry Considine, Tammy Caldwell, Nick Herring, Carla Moore, Bridget Granados, Brooke Baril, Mandi Herring, Chris Miles, Jesse Boudet, and Josh Herring; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Margaret Vasquez and her parents.

Her body will be cremated. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 17, in Pettett Funeral Home. Burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew School Foundation or Glenn Cemetery.
