Clayton Alan “Bill” “Andy” Anderson, 86, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016.

He was born June 15, 1930, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Leslie Dewey and Ada Alice (Sweany) Anderson. He was a 1948 graduate of Randolph High School and attended Pittsburg State University and Washburn University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 until being honorably discharged in 1952, serving on the USS Norton Sound AV11, the Navy’s first guided missile and rocket ship, during the Korean War.

After the service, he attended Topeka Trade School in Electronics for two years. After school he served as Service Manager for Jenkins Music Company. In 1960 he began his teaching career at KAW Area Vocational School, where he taught electronics for 35 years, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of the Randolph United Methodist Church.

Clayton married Bernadine Lois “Bernie” Wohler on January 11, 1951 in Randolph, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include two children, Dennis (Diann) Anderson, and Rex Anderson, all of Auburn, KS; three grandchildren, Shelby and Cody Anderson and Gray (Kristin) Bothwell; a great-grandson, Liam Bothwell; a sister, Jacalyn “Jackie” (Jim) Anderson, Hesston, KS; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Anderson, Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Keith Anderson and Lester (Lois) Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Randolph United Methodist Church, 105 East Garrison, Randolph, KS 66554.
