F. M. Bellsmith was a pioneer in the early Pentecostal movement in Canada. Son of noted Canadian artist with the same name, Bellsmith was educated at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and became a Methodist minister in 1908. He served in churches in Winnipeg and Toronto and later enlisted in WW1 as a private, later serving the 204th Battalion as chaplain. He later received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and joined the PAOC, serving in churches in Epsom, Mono Road, and Cookeville. He later joined the staff of Western Bible College and then served as teacher as Ontario Pentecostal Bible School. Bellsmith travelled extensively throughout Canada on preaching missions and taught many pastors and missionaries. He had 12 children, 5 sons from his first marriage, 7 children from his second spouse, Rosalie Marion Bellsmith. He was regarded as an upstanding Christian who was a keen student of church history. Following in the footsteps of his famous father, he enjoyed painting and music.
