Joan was born May 24, 1948 in Mauston, Wisconsin the daughter of Phillip and Florence (Wetmore) Walsh. She attended St. Mary's Grade School in Lyndon Station, Madonna High School in Mauston and Madison Business College. Joan was, to many of us, the glue holding the Walsh family together, as her home was the hub for hosting many of our family gatherings. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family, making sure everyone felt at home and well-loved. She is known by everyone for her heart-warming smile, kindness, and generosity and will be missed by many.
Joan is survived by her only child; daughter, Kari (David) Servais and grand-daughters, Bailey "Sunshine" & Peyton "Sweetness" of Lakeville, Minnesota. Also survived by step-sons, Matthew (Sue) Dixon of Madison, James Dixon and his daughters, Annika and Leah of South Dakota, and a stepdaughter in law, Marybeth Dixon and her children, Molly, Tanner, Drew and Mallory of Manitowoc; siblings, Ann Nate of Wisconsin Dells, Liz (Howard) Stauss of Brookfield, Fran Walsh (Gayle) of Lyndon Station, Pat (Barb) Walsh of Wisconsin Dells and Agnes (Tom) Robertson of Stoughton; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, John Dixon; parents, Philip & Florence Walsh; Kari's father, Butch Ingebretson; sister, Mary Klein, brother, Jim Walsh and step-son, John Dixon, Jr.
The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Father Eric Sternberg officiating with a celebration of her life to follow. Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
