Born on her father's farm in Darby Township. She was just eight years old when her father died. Her widowed mother, along with her three young daughters moved into the home of her aunt, Lulla F. Kincaid. On April 18, 1897 Josephine married Ernest A. Dutt in Columbus, Ohio. They moved to El Paso, Texas where Ernest died June 25, 1923. Josephine, with her three years old daughter, Ernestine, returned to Columbus where they lived with Josephine's mother. Josephine, like her mother, never remarried.
