Walter was the son of Louis Perkins and Mary Alice Hackler.

Walter was a World War I Veteran: CO Cpl Provost Guard Co.

He married Effie Womack on December 13, 1920, Richfield, Morton, Kansas, by Probate Judge John Bartholomew.

He moved to New Mexico in 1938.

They had children; Mary Alice, John Lewis, Delene, Ledene, and George.

He was preceded in death by parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers.

He is survived by wife; 2 sons: John Lewis, Rolla, KS; George, Albuquerque, NM; 3 daughters: Mary Alice Hephner, Gladstone, NM; Delene Christian, Dumas, TX; Ledene (Mrs. Shirley George) Sayre, Kenton, OK; and by 5 sisters: Gwinnie Dorth, Fairplay, MO; Alta Seward, Chino, CA; Jewel Seward, Mira Loma, CA; Louie Womack, Yerington, NV; and Edith Reeves, Ontario, CA.

(The below information was furnished by Dokes74)

Walter's children are as such: Mary Alice Perkins Hephner b. 8/19/1923 d. 1/18/1992, John Lewis Perkins b.7/9/1925, Ledene Perkins Sayre b. 6/5/1931 d.12/9/1997, her twin Delene Perkins Christian b. 6/5/1931 d, 6/8/2010, Walter George Perkins b.11/2/1936 d.1/18/2005, and Riley Perkins b.4/30/1927 d. 9/7/1981. His siblings were also Alpha Mary Holloway, Alta Jane Cross, an Infant son who died at birth in 1900, Alva Jewell Armstrong, Elva, who died at 10 months in 1908, Louie Alice Kendall, John Francis Creed died at 5 months 1911, and Edith Rachel Reeves (daughter of Lewis and Belle Hammond Perkins).

Helen, Riley, Ledene and Delene were the children of Walter's brother Otto and his wife Vera. Vera died, presumably in child birth, with twins Ledene and Delene, outside of Rolla, KS. Helen was adopted soon after by her school teacher, while the twins were taken by Walt and Effie, and another family member. They decided very soon that the girls had to be together, so Effie and Walt took both of the babies. Otto kept Riley with him, but according to my father, Riley spent so much time with them (Walt and Effie's) that he simply considered another sibling. I had never heard Riley referred to as anyone other than my uncle.
