Connie Long Stroup Newman, age 65 of Roanoke, VA was lifted by angels to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Gladys Long; son, Stephen Stroup, Jr.; Grandson, Dillon Christopher Barnes; two brothers, Larry Long and Alfred “Bud” Long; sister, Frances Long Shrader.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Debra Sweeney and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Ashley Stroup and boyfriend, Shannon Stevenson, Rachel Barnes and fiancé, Chris Delp, Christopher Stoup and girlfriend, Caty Conn; great-grandchildren, Curtis Mubeidin, MaKenzie Stevenson, Christopher K. Delp and Kyleigh Ann Conn Stoup, all of Roanoke, VA.; four sisters, Ruth Harrison of Bluefield, VA, Shirley Monger, Wanda Harris (David), Lovetta Saunders (Galen) all of Roanoke, VA; brother, Kenneth Long of Newnan, GA; sister-in-law, Ann Long of Irmo, SC; many devoted cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and the loving and compassionate staff of the Avante Nursing Home, Medi Home Health & Hospice and her church family at Central Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home: 630 West Main Street, Tazewell, VA 24651 with Pastor Willis Greenstreet, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Maxwell Cemetery at Maxwell, VA.
