From The Pocahontas County Sun, Laurens, Iowa: Thursday, April 14, 1892 (Vol. VII, No 43 – found in 2nd column, ½ way down.)

"Henry Havens, an aged veteran of the war of the rebellion, fell backward from a load of cord wood he was unloading at the dooryard of his home, a mile and a half east of Colfax, and alighting on his head, received injuries to his spine which resulted fatally. The accident was caused by Mr. Havens stumbling in stepping backward, his foot having caught under a stick of wood, and from the moment he was carried into the house there was complete paralysis of the system below the neck."
