WAKARUSA, IN — Robert LaMar Wenger, 91, died at 12:35 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.

He was born to Phares and Mary (Null) Wenger on Sept. 8, 1924.

He married Dorothy Mae Schalliol on Feb. 22, 1945. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in February 2015.

He graduated from Madison High School in 1942. He was a dairy farmer before becoming employed at Wayne Feed Mill, Wakarusa, in 1955. He was the manager for seven years before retiring Dec. 31, 1986. He gave tours at Holiday Rambler for 10 years.

He was a member of Bible Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, deacon and on the pastoral search committee.

He is survived by his children, daughter, Becky (Randy) Yeiter of Carmel, son, Bruce Wenger (Sherry Yoder) of Wakarusa, daughter, Nancy (Tom) VanTilburg of Jeffersonville, daughter, Barbara (Steve) Stump of Wakarusa and daughter-in-law, Mardelle (Hostetler) Wenger of Fort Wayne. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Robin Wenger and Randi Gonzales of Fort Wayne, Matt (Susan) Yeiter, Mark (Debbie) Yeiter and Tina (Ryan) Clepper, all of Indianapolis, Daniel (Janel) Yeiter of Avon, Rachel Wenger of Wakarusa, Nic VanTilburg of Jeffersonville, Peter (Jessica) VanTilburg of Louisville, KY., Sam (Kara) Stump of Wakarusa, Libby (Matt) Abberger of Prince Frederick, MD., and Joanna (Alex) Williams of Easley, S.C. He has 27 great-grandchildren with two more due in 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Brian and twin great-grandsons, Adrian Drew (# 65270372) and Trevor James Stump (# 65270585).

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 17, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, with the service following at 2 p.m., all at the Bible Baptist Church, 205 E. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Pastor David Harper of the Bible Baptist Church officiated and burial followed in Olive (West) Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bible Baptist Church, Center for Hospice Care or Compassionate Caregivers.
